WHY TO SET CLEAR OBJECTIVES
If we want to our classes have sense we need a plan, because a plan can reduce the level of uncertainly and we can anticipate what will happen in the development of the class providing consistency to the process, teachers almost never set the objectives at the beginning, and I think we should, because with them we say what we hope to achieve or what we want our students learn or be able to do at the end of the lesson, the more specific we are the easier it will be for us, because once we have designed aims, we can select the activities, to put them in the best order and choose the most suitable aids, and materials, this is a good opportunity to look back to see whether we have achieved our aims, or whether we have succeeded in teaching what we planned to teach. Set objectives will help us when we need to evaluate our students, to get a real rubric to assess them too.
Hi Marisol! Can you please edit your post and colour your fonts white?
ResponderEliminarBy the way, can you tell me if EFL is taught in schools? What's the level of students after their primary and seconday?
Cheers,

Hi Marisol
ResponderEliminarI think you have commented on the place of objectives in ELT very well. Somehow, due to orientation in Communicative Language Teaching Approach, many teachers here had started to misuse freedom of action by not planning lessons properly. At the last moment they could just pick up a newspaper clip in the name of authentic material, walk into a class and initiate group discussion. ABCD model of framing objectives will provide definite guidelines and result in some good learning.
Don't you think it is working so very well with us in our course?
See you soon online.
